Therapeutic Massage of Jonesborough – Services
There are many types, or “modalities” of massage: Swedish, Thai, sports, medical, lymphatic, deep-tissue, Reiki, Rolfing, and myofascial release, and many others. Whenever any of these or a combination of these modalities are used to improve one’s health, then the procedure is therapeutic. These modalities work by increasing blood flow to the tissues, reducing inflammation to the tissues, lowering overall blood pressure, increasing the body’s production of endorphins, and inducing the muscle tissue and fascial tissue to release and soften. When this occurs, pain and discomfort is reduced or eliminated by achieving a balance (homeostasis) of the tension or pull of the opposing muscle groups on the joints.
Therapeutic massage is a fast-growing segment of the health field because the tremendous benefits ae now being recognized by the public and the medical field. Medical doctors, chiropractors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, RN’s, and others are much more likely to refer patients for massage treatment today than in the past, and this is adding to the national awareness of the benefits of massage therapy.
Every client has specific needs and/or pain, Stan confers with each patient to determine the type or types or modalities that he will use. Problems can arise from any number of causes, and it is important to determine the cause of the pain and try to correct it. If the cause is suspected to be something which needs the attention of a doctor or chiropractor, Stan will refer the client. Likewise, when a person has already received necessary surgery, pain medications, and steroid packs or injections only to have the pain return, they can be referred for massage therapy. Why? Often this is because the fascia tissue and muscles are in a hypertonic -trauma state causing hundreds of pounds of unbalanced tension force In one or more areas of the body. This condition, until it is resolved, can be extremely painful and uncomfortable. When this happens, massage therapy can improve the situation by relaxing the tissue which the client has lost control of.
